Mundarttheater Ofterschwang

The play is "Der Brandner Kaspar und das ewig Leben",
a comedy in three acts by Kurt Wilhelm.

Who does not know the story of the crafty mountain farmer, Brandner Kaspar? How he, with the help of plenty of cherry brandy and a deceptive card game, manages to "squeeze" 18 years of life from the "Buinerkromar ibr`s Oahr höüt"? But Brandner Kaspar has to learn that it is not beneficial to meddle in fate's craft ...

The board of the Ofterschwang theater club and Conny Ney, the new director, have seen that this classic can also be performed on small stages with the theater groups from Durach and Wildpoldsried, and were enthusiastic about the idea of bringing "Brandner Kaspar" to the stage in Ofterschwang from that moment on.

The plan matured for two years! There were many things to clarify beforehand: searching for a text, securing performance rights, convincing the theater club, and the most important of all: bringing the Ofterschwang dancers on board and onto the stage. Once all points were addressed, the text had to be adapted into dialect and printed. The theater club is especially grateful for the generous support from the municipality of Ofterschwang, such as printing texts, diverse advertising for our play, and pre-sale of tickets!

Then, the stage design was tackled. The stage construction demanded a lot from Franz Abrell, Albert Marxer, and Karl Ney. It had to be enabled to show three stage sets with very little modification. Not to mention the transformation of the stage from the "Earthly to the Heavens". Spontaneously, Leni Marxer and Anna Rapp from the ranks of "theater youth" volunteered to artistically design the set, which the theater club is very pleased about and expresses a heartfelt thank you!

With a lot of energy and joy in acting, the players then got to work. Julia Haug, Gerhard Socher, and Reiner Walk are seen this year in double roles. With Franz Abrell as "Brandner Kaspar" and Monika Marxer as "Buinerkromar", two very experienced actors take on the lead roles. Melissa Sichler, Silas Keinath, and Magdalena Finkel complete the ensemble, and this year a brand new "theatrar" joins with Matthias Walk. The "Plattlerfehla" and "Plattlerbüebe" are also involved, making the group perfect. Moreover, the Plattlerbüebe skillfully bring a "special effect" into reality – the audience can look forward to a surprise!
For the arrangement of the "right tones at the right time", "our technician" Jakob Marxer is responsible, along with Felix Abrell and Karl Ney at the mixing desk.

Rehearsals have been diligently ongoing, and anyone curious about how the Ofterschwang theater club brings this elaborate piece "Der Brandner Kaspar und das ewig Leben" to the small stage can experience it at the Ofterschwang House.
